We would like to celebrate our December 2024 Students of the Month which is Mrs. Agrillo's class. The class has shown continued caring for each other with Mrs. Agrillo supporting whole child social emotional learning lessons. It really does take a village, Helena Flats appreciates our great partnerships with parents, teachers, and students.

4th graders in library learned about wordless picture books. In these photos, they are taking turns narrating the pages to comprehend the story together. They then created their own wordless picture books!

It is tradition in the Salish and Kootenai tribes for children to gather and listen to the folktale Coyote Steals Fire around the time of the first snowfall. 5th graders during library did so, then played charades; trying to guess which traditional use of fire was being acted out.

Parent/Guardians please ensure your children arrive to school in appropriate attire for Winter and Wet conditions. They are going outside for recess and other essential recreational times. You can use the attached graphic for what the school feels is appropriate clothing for a variety of temperatures. Parents/Guardians we are beginning to use this visual along with dialogue in our classrooms. This is a way for our students to self-identify their feelings as well as restorative practices and techniques to be a Victor who is Above the Line moving forward to accomplish great things as opposed to a Victim. We have visuals for this in every classroom and throughout our building. This helps teachers and students to develop effective strategies and dialogue together in building a positive culture. We want to communicate this with Parent/Guardians and please feel free to reinforce this type of dialogue at home as well if you choose.
